ADD/ADHD Treatment Baltimore
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) can affect both children and adults, making it difficult to concentrate or follow-through with the completion of tasks. Executive functions like planning, organizing and executing can also be difficult. An integrated approach that includes therapy and/or medication can be used to help you function and feel better.
Anxiety, memory problems, learning disabilities, executive function problems, and other conditions can disguise themselves as ADHD. If a diagnosis is not clear, Dr. Ranen will order additional testing to be sure you get the appropriate treatment.
ADHD and ADD are two different ways of describing the same condition. This condition begins in childhood and can persist into adulthood. Often, but not always, when the condition is diagnosed in children it is more likely referred to as ADHD because hyperactivity may be an obvious feature, and ADD in adults when inattentiveness, procrastination, absentmindedness, difficulty with time management, and being disorganized may be the most prominent features. This lack of prominent hyperactivity can account for the condition going unrecognized until adulthood. Nonetheless, there are certainly adults with a very hyperactive form of the condition too. Adult ADD can cause depression, low self-esteem, frustration, irritability, and difficulty with careers and relationships.
